Execution Timeline

7 SEQUENTIAL TIMED STEPS

1TOAST THE COCONUT
5 MIN

Heat the ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan and toast the desiccated coconut on low flame, stirring constantly, until it turns light golden and smells fragrant.

Tip: Set aside a small handful of untoasted coconut before this step for coating the ladoos later
2ADD CONDENSED MILK AND CARDAMOM
3 MIN

Pour in the condensed milk and add the cardamom powder, stirring well to combine evenly with the toasted coconut.

3COOK UNTIL THICK
8 MIN

Cook the mixture on low heat, stirring continuously, until it thickens enough to leave the sides of the pan and gathers into a soft mass.

Tip: The mixture is ready when it stops sticking to the spoon and holds a rough ball shape
4COOL THE MIXTURE
5 MIN

Transfer the mixture to a plate and let it cool for 10 minutes until warm enough to handle without burning your hands.

5SHAPE INTO BALLS
10 MIN

Grease your palms lightly with ghee and roll small portions of the mixture into smooth, round balls.

6COAT AND GARNISH
5 MIN

Roll each ball in the reserved desiccated coconut until evenly coated, then press a few chopped pistachios on top.

7LET THE LADOOS SET
5 MIN

Arrange the coated ladoos on a plate and refrigerate for 20 minutes so they firm up and hold their shape.
